Zach, he's a bit out of your league.

Not really. If I can get my 60ft under control I will be in the 12's this year. and mid 13's N/A. Or at least my car will be perfectly capable of 12's.

Murph's car should be perfectly capable of 11's :)

Hmm hey boys and girls...lets see just exactly how much nitrous a SHO motor can have!!

soooo thinking it would be pretty cool (selfishly) if we also had a standing mile list. :naughty:

I would be:

1992 MTX SC/nitrous 168.231mph Texas Mile official time (full weight)

I'd love to do that... They require a roll cage, right?

only if you go over 190mph then the rules change for a cage, suit etc.

Under 190 just need a helmet, fire extinguisher and speed rated tires.

I got bye back in the day with drag radials which is a no-no now.

Its a blast but I only did three passes and called it a weekend. I felt like the final pass was as fast as the car could run. I figure driving it on the trailer is better than pushing. I did everything for that pass including pushing this heavy beyotch all the way to the start line to keep the motor cold. Got a good launch also.

The 96 brake upgrade with ss lines is great on the street but not so great at 168. Little pucker factor there stopping the piggy.

Think everyone should try the standing mile at least once. I hear people say they've done 150 or 160 just because their speedo may peg out or guessing and I roll my eyes.

When you have a little slip of paper that a radar gun snapped then there is no "big fish got away" stories.

I'd love to run the mile. I think the one in Nebraska requires a cage for the mile. I'll have to look into it. I wonder what my car would do... What's the elevation there. I think the NE event is around 3000 ASL. Here in San Antonio where I'm at now, it's like 700!

I think the elevation is there around "2." The Texas Mile is in Goliad which is way south going toward the coast.

Its run at an old airport so its all flat and super wide. I hit second and the whole car yanked hard to the right. Felt little uneasy but super cool.

Grab some Tex Mex and a Tecate with lime!

Submitting my 90. Car 206 on the left.

It's a stock 3.0. I'd been getting better at timing shifts and my ETs had been going down all day.

I guess I hit "Jesus Gear" in the "Prayers: Answered" zone.

I would hate to say it but something happened to that timing in that run. Looking back at my 14.59 run I had a 9.38 in the 1/8 and finished at 14.59@98. So there is no way I would have lost .6 a second after that to only end up with a 14.59.
The MPH being -15.25 also tells us something broke the end beam before the first beam.
Basically my theory is that something broke the last beam just as you broke the first.
You had some other great runs there tho. And I wish I was there.

The negative MPH is a pretty big indicator that something was up with the equipment.

Both times look screwy. A 9.3 1/8th and a 13.8 1/4? It is physically impossible to cover 1/8th of mile in 4.5 sec with a trap speed of only 108, unless he somehow magically accelerated to 108 within 60ft of the 1/8th (108 mph would cover 712ft in 4.5 sec)

And look at the finish, .399 diff. You were .373 behind at the 1/8th, but 9mph slower. No way you only lost .026, unless your trap was a LOT faster, which again, is imPossible for a NA SHO.

Sorry! Have any other slips to compare?

That's where your way off Tim. I've done this repeatedly. I have 3-4 slips right in front of me where I got some crap 60' times and ran 13.7-13.8 E/T's @ 107-108 MPH in my nitrous SHO. My 1/8th times were at 9.2-9.3 @ 85 ish MPH.

After the lap I thought "man, that was fast". By the time I got back to the pits, Ron was excitedly waving at me to "go back out and try again because that was a 14.23". It was the only time Ron had exitedly waved all day.

My next fastest slip was a 14.608@97 and it didn't feel as fast. It was the run that immediately followed the 14.2. That one is good enough to make the list on it's own, but the 14.2 was after a 2 hour cooldown and the 14.6 was a hotlap.

I barely lost to that SRT4. The outcome wasn't clear until halfway through my third gear...when HIS clutch finally grabbed and he ran away with it. If his clutch was solid, he would have run a 13.4 or 13.5 at 112+.

This run is on video. Hopefully Ron will have it up soon. I doubt we'll hear/see it but when he hits third, and I hit third...I barely lose any ground and it looks good for me until his clutch grabbed and he was gone.

I'm not sayin' y'all are crazy for questioning it, I was pretty unhappy to see the -15 trap. And no one likes flukey fast ETs, but that was a fast run for a 21 year old Taurus. If it helps any, my DynoStorm repreatedly tells me the 90 has 263-268 CHP (It says my 93 has 205).

Edit: these are the reasons I haven't given it a 60k
