Hey guys im new to the shoforum but not new to SHOs! My name is mike and im from san jose, CA. I drive a Titanium 89 and have not modded the car very much yet.

I have run into a problem today while trying to install a set of tokico's and intrax on my car. It seems that there is a 1" gap between the top of the spring and the bottom of the strut mount, if i push to remove the gap it just dampens the strut. It appears that either the strut rod is too long or the spring is too short. I am using a Police Rear Strut mount from shonutperformance but i noticed there is no spring stop on it, is there a part i am missing here? I can take pics tomarrow.

I have the following parts:

Tockico strut - Intrax Spring - Rod Cover - Washer - Police Strut Mount - Washer. This is all there was on the OEM strut except that on the original strut mount there is a rubber piece that has a spring stop on it. (which will not fit on the police mount).

Also, the same problem exists when i use the original strut mount instead of the police one. A 1" gap.

Thanks Guys any help is appreciated,
Mike

Have you verified that you have the correct part numbers for the springs and struts? If not, post them here and maybe someone can verify.

Yeah the part numbers are correct:
Tokico's
2x HB 5002 Front
2x HB 5003 Rear

Intrax:
30.1.026

Its really wierd how the rear police strut mount doesnt have a spring stop, it just doesnt seem right because it appears that without the stop the camber can become out of alignment very easily. Does anyone have the rear police mounts? Did they have the same problem?

Thanks,
Mike

I have the rear Police mounts. When I installed my springs the struts they were loose but there was no gap. Of course they were Eibachs springs though. I think this is what your going to get with a lowering spring but I don't think there should be a gap.
