For 150 per tire, you can get alot of options.

Link to tirerack through the main page. Alot of tires have reviews on them too.

Here is the best way to get PERFORMANCE tires on the Net! Go 2 discount tire direct.com. Pick the tires you want and print out the page on your PC. Then go to Wal-Mart and ask them (don't show them the printed page of your tires) to see how much the tires are that you want. Wal-mart prices matches anybody, no questions asked.
I just purchased GOODYEAR EAGLE F-1's GS, the good ones. At Goodyear.com my tires were 250.00 pr tire. At discount tire direct they were 125.00 pr tire. Wal-mart listed them for 190.00 pr tire, but they price-matched discount tire directs prices. Very easy, and no waiting for shipment.

My BF Goodrich Traction TA's were $110.00 a piece and have been a very good tire. They have a unidirectional tread and are sticky as heck!!!

I put on Yokohama Avid V4S back in Feb. They are excellent tires. I too am from the northeast and they performed well in the snow. Getting on and off the highway is also a lot of fun. I got them from tirerack for $95 per and it cost $60 to mount and balance. That works out to $115 per tire, mounted. Pretty good value if you ask me.

Check out the Tire Rack. Awesome selection and prices. Plus you can read what other people with the same tire have experienced as far as treadwear/performance.
If you're running stock wheels, the Tire Rack currently has Sumitomo HTR Z tires on sale for $66 each!!
