Help! My friend has a 95 SHO with 18x8.5" alba rims with sumotumo 225/40zr18 tires. They all have a slight feather on the inside edge, which I understand is from too much negative camber?? but the problem is the front passenger side tire. the inside edge looks like its been gouged out! Instead of being rounded over like normal, it actualey curves in. now what really worries me is that it only does this 3/4 of the way around the tire. His wheel bearing seems a little loose, could that be the problem?? or could it simply be alignment or a bent strut or something???

sounds like a case of bad wheel bearing and out of balance tire. As he drives along, the tire wobbles excessively due to the wheel bearing. This causes the tire to bump against the strut.

Also, is that wheel designed to run on a sho? The width is not excessive, but the offset may be incorrect, placing the tire too close to the strut.

In my humble opinion, way too much wheel for a SHO. Might look the way you want it to, but ain't no way that setup is going to work properly on a SHO.

It might be "gouged out" because the overly wide tire is rubbing against something. Everything has a limit.

This may or may not be the problem but I had this exact thing happen to me. It turned out that the ball joint was bad. With SHO's you have to replace the whole control arm which is about $65 from Ford. However, I would rather go with the Moog control arms because they have grease fittings for the ball joints.
