I did alittle tinting on my sho the other day and i must say it is not as hard as every one says. With enuf time and effort it can be made to look pretty good, i only had enuf tint to do 2 windows. I will be redoing them tonight or tommrow along wit the whole car. But here is how it looks, the trick is alot of the water and soap, and dry climate. The darker you go also the easier it is to apply!

Those are the key words there. I have tinted previous cars myself. The side windows aren't too bad, but the rear window is a PITA. For the couple hundred spent on having it professionally tinted, it is well worth avoiding the hassel of doing it myself IMHO. Kudos to you for taking the time and effort!

Shops around here, some will do 5% but will not warranty it and I think they also will not make you a receit.
The side windows are preaty easy, the small window between the rear door and the back glass isn't too bad either.
You have to do the back glass in strips if you do it yourself, you can buy rolls of rear window tint strips. If you try hard enuff you can get the strips close to the heater lines and it doesn't show as bad.
Best thing about shops is they can do the back glass with one sheet.

I'm not a pro at tinting and only have done a couple but it takes time, patience, patience, and concentration. If you get aggervated with a window stop and take a breather, have a cold drink, eat or whatever till you feel like going back at it. When you get frustrated you will waste more tint than you put on as I have learned......

I'm thinking about haveing mine redone this summer, maybe 5%. I like the tint from Wallmart, it's about $8 a roll. 3 rolls should be enuff, film aid, and and tools add up to about $30. Also, I like the double metalized layer film.
Sun hits it at just the right angle you can't see in and hard to see in with a flash lite in the dark.
Mine are 30% light transfer, our limit is 35%, just slightly smoked but they wont fuss much over beeing darker as long as they can see you. I had 5% on my old Mazda truck and never got pulled over and I loved how dark it was inside during the day.
