I am changing the timing belt, front crank seal, and CPS. I want to know if you have to take the water pump out to get the entire cover off. I have a fairly new water pump, and I would rather not break the seal if possible.

Thanks
Corey

if your changing the cps then the lower timing cover has to come off. however the whole water pump does not have to come off. but i just did my water pump, and i made my job huge when i didnt need to. my replacement pump (47$ at napa after 4$ core) was only the front bearing but i had already taken off the whole pump, timing belt, dampner, lower timing cover...turned a 2 hour job in to a 2 weekend job (lots of cleaning acounts for my slowness) anyway my sujestion is if your replacing the water pump dont put in a used part, just get a remanufactured one for about 50 bucks.
