The time has come for me to finally replace the undersized stock front brake hardware on my January 1991 manufactured SHO. I have read in these pages over and over about the benefits of the larger brakes, but I have just been too cheap to go through with it. Now that my last free set, the 7th free replacement set of the lifetime warranted Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads, has worn out, it is time to cross over to the big side of the rotor.

Does anyone have any spare parts for this upgrade that I can help you clean out of your garage? I am looking for the parts listed below. If this list is not correct, please let me know. The small hardware I should be able to acquire without too much trouble.

1. Knuckle, left and right, 1994/1995 Taurus/Sable
2. Caliper, left and right, 1994-1999 SHO/Sable, 95+ Continental (see Note)
3. Bracket, caliper, left and right, FN-74, 1996+ SHO/Sable, 95+ Continental (see Note)

Note: I may decide to buy brackets and fully loaded calipers at an auto parts store, but I'd like to see what is out there first.

If you could help an old SHO (and on older SHO owner) keep his baby rolling and stopping, I would be very appreciative. I will also use the brakes a bit harder the next time I have her to the track.

I don't have any extra parts, but thought it might help to let you know: the knuckle can come from any 94/95 taurus/sable w/ ABS, and the caliper can be from 94-99 SHOs, although the bracket does have to be 96+. Hope this helps.

Scott, If you have the time, a trip to a local salvage yard might be your best bet for the knuckles. Depending on corrosion you might try and keep the abs sensors intact from the donor car. If you are looking for used stuff shipped you can try Russ at http://home.earthlink.net/~rcm_automotive/index.html
I'm not sure how quick they are at responding these days.

For the best price, and a stand up guy, I would recommend Dan Barbush (SV&HOdan on the forum). I think he has the forum stamp of approval.

He's helped me out numerous times and the prices are great. Of course knuckles are heavy so shipping might be a little pricey.

Jim, hold that offer. I'm checking with the local guys too for parts I can get without having to pay postage on cast iron pieces.
