Sr. SHO Engr.
The time has come for me to finally replace the undersized stock front brake hardware on my January 1991 manufactured SHO. I have read in these pages over and over about the benefits of the larger brakes, but I have just been too cheap to go through with it. Now that my last free set, the 7th free replacement set of the lifetime warranted Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads, has worn out, it is time to cross over to the big side of the rotor.
Does anyone have any spare parts for this upgrade that I can help you clean out of your garage? I am looking for the parts listed below. If this list is not correct, please let me know. The small hardware I should be able to acquire without too much trouble.
1. Knuckle, left and right, 1994/1995 Taurus/Sable
2. Caliper, left and right, 1994-1999 SHO/Sable, 95+ Continental (see Note)
3. Bracket, caliper, left and right, FN-74, 1996+ SHO/Sable, 95+ Continental (see Note)
Note: I may decide to buy brackets and fully loaded calipers at an auto parts store, but I'd like to see what is out there first.
If you could help an old SHO (and on older SHO owner) keep his baby rolling and stopping, I would be very appreciative. I will also use the brakes a bit harder the next time I have her to the track.
