I have a ticking coming from my engine when i get underneath the car it doesn't seem to be coming from the oil pan but instead right where the y pipe connects to the engine. Is this a vavle problem or could it be a rodbearing issue? Should I park the SHO and leave it alone FOR EVER cause this thing is already making me go crazy and in debt lol. I really like the car any help would be great and anyone around the North West have any nice SHO engine's for sale...:(

Make sure its not coming from oil pan (rod bearing) area, if its for sure lower ticking and not upper and its by the Y pipe as you say mabe exhaust leak?

But when you get the funds rod bearings are only about $45 plus a few oil pump/pan gaskets you'll need I'd say its cheap insurance. How many miles?

Ok i went and listened again it is a steady tick if it is a exaust leak how would i determine where it is and if it is a rod bearing how hard is it to replace them myself and how much would it cost for a mechanic to do it. Wish i was in automotive school now....

wish i knew i just got the car thought i would at least get a month out of it before things came up but what was i thinking huh? There is no oil in the plug wells so i am assuming a 60k was done at some point. I am pretty sure it is the rod bearings i am just trying to convince myself otherwise? Now how long of a job is this with a person who would be going off the guide on Kurts web page and with little mechanical expertise (why i am gogin to school to learn). And what would be a fair price for a shop to do this? I have a mechanic that has 2 sho's himself to work on it.

I would get a mechanic's stethescope and pinpoint where the noise is.

Ok i used my mom stethoscope and put it on the oil pan and i couldn't hear the ticking it sounded like idk fluid moving around i couldn't hear the tick is this a good thing? The ticking (if you are under the engine legs sticking out from front of car and face up) is located i think on the right side up kinda where the rear of the y-pipe connects to the engine could this be a chain tensoioner(sp) or a vavle sticking or just a exhaust leak. I asked my mom to listen she thinks i am just looking for things to be wrong with my car and said it is fine. All well told her when my engine seizes up to rember this moment....

thats good if it isnt coming from oil pan, try revving the engine and see if the tick corresponds with the RPMs. You may want to put the car up on jack stand and make sure the Y pipe bolts are all tightened up, just dont break them.
