The other day I noticed that when I have my windows down and punch it from about 15mph I get this little ticking sound coming from the ouside of my car. It seems to only make the sound at lower speeds and higher rpms, where the engine is making its torque. Then to my disbelief I noticed that I can somewhat hear it inside the car from the dashboard on the driver's side. I check the heat shields and they are tight, so I am lost I have a rebuilt trans and I hope to god that it isnt the problem. Can someone please help me I am going crazy trying to figure this out!!

Let me re-phrase myself. The sound is more like a rattling, like metal hitting metal. I know it isnt an exhaust leak either. Thanks

Sounds like it could be your speedometer cable. Almost like a scratchy noise? My 91' does it pretty bad, while the 94' only on the highway.

I thought about that but wouldnt the speedo needle shake or something of that nature? The sound seems like it is coming from outside of the car though

My needle doesn't show any problem, but is in definate need of a new cable. It is a misleading noise, but you might have something else. It is an easy start, I think they run less than $10.
