I have been having some issues with the car wanting to buck or surge and it seems to be tied to accelerator pedal position. I am currently running a 5star 91 octane tune and if I put the car in sport mode and put in first gear around 2000 to 2500 rpms the car will begin to buck and the TAC percentage jumps all over the place from 100 to 28 to 74 to 63 and so on. If I floor it then it seems to hold 100%. It will also buck under normal driving with moderate acceleration. Not sure what to make of it. I tried to put the car back to stock tune and it wont run right, just stumbles and misfires and several messages come up like backup sensor failure and advancetrac failure? Put car back to 91 tune and now runs okay but still has bucking issue. Any thoughts?

Contact 5-star. Did you use a 3BAR map? If so, you need to put the 2BAR back in when you return to stock.

I've been going through the same thing with 5-star. I went with them because they are a sponsor on ford-trucks.com where I've been a moderator for 13 years.

After datalogging, I noticed the torque management system seems to be triggering, and they changed something and it's much better, but still doing it. I have an email into them with a new datalog, so hopefully they come up with something.

They answer emails pretty quick. I just got another revision in my email, so I'll check that out later today or tomorrow and report back.

Sounds like we're having the same issue.

So I spoke to 5star and I will send the datalog files to them later today and wait for a tune revision. As soon as I have a chance to load it and test it out I will let you know how it plays out.

I have been running the new tune for a few weeks now and it is smoother than ever, my 93 tune is doing it also so i will send it off to be redone. I will say 5star has been very good to work with and answer any questions I have had so far.

I'm up to a version 11 at this point, and I believe they eliminated the throttle surge completely. I notice that if I push the go-pedal down at low RPMs, say 2000 or so, there is a brief blow-off when the boost peaks, and then it pulls steadily now instead of surging.

I am going to ask them, after datalogging it a bit more, if it's possible to eliminate that. So far, I'm liking the tune overall, it makes the car a lot of fun to drive especially in Sport mode.

BTW, I am not interested in being the fastest at the 1/4, or 0-60, just to get a little more "umph" and drivability. So far, after all the adjustments, it's just about where I want it now.
