Being new to SHOs, I have been using this forum to learn how to take care of the 95 MTX I bought a few months ago. My car runs alittle rough at low speeds and does not seem to have the pick-up I read about all the time here. I checked the plug wells- all is fine there. Today, I cleaned the MAF, but it seemed fine. I also checked the throttle cable by having someone push the peddle to the floor. The cable was taught, no looseness. However, there is still some room for the throttle lever to turn. At WOT (Wide Open Throttle) I can use my hand and turn the thing the cable connects to another half turn. The cable is somewhat loose when the throttle is closed. Should this be a concern? Should the throttle open as far as it can?? I would really appreciate some advise from you SHO veterans. Thanks :salute: :salute:

Yes it is a problem. You will need a new throttle cable. It will have to be from a parts car or junkyard. I recently just replaced mine. You will have to get a cable from a 93-95 SHO.

The connection to the firewall is. The 89-92 are held in by a clip where as the 93-95 is held in by 2 screws.

The cable length is still the same though....I had to use the cable from my uncle's 93ATX when the cable in my 92 broke....worked just fine...

All in all, he might just have to adjust the throttle spring.....12mm nut on the end of the throttle butterfly outboard of the spring....but if you over-torque it, your throttle'll stick.

My accelerator peddle was bent when I got my car. It was hitting the floor way before it should and not letting the car go to WOT.
