I had a coolant line break next to the engine on my sho. its one of those .5 inch sized ones. I have a couple questions about them.
first what do I need to take off to get to that little bugger?
Can I plug the lines and drive with out major problems temporarily?
any advice on getting ahold of those little snap rings that are buried next to the engine.
It would be alot easier if ford had organized wirering and tubing a little better.
okay thats my problem thanks ahead of time if you have any advice.

People have plugged the TB coolant lines before. I never have but run a search on it. It has been discussed before and you will find the info useful.

They don't plug them, they route a hose to bypass the throttle body.

The coolant hoses under the throttle body are not that hard to access without removing anything. It may help to loosen the 8mm hose clamp on the inlet air hose on the throttle body, the two clips at the front of the air filter box and the MAF sensor wiring connector and remove the filter lid, MAF and inlet hose as a single piece.

Just get some bulk coolant hose material for a couple of bucks and replace the leaking hose(s). The clips can be squeezed with pliers (needle nose or channel locks depending on the location) and slide the clip an inch up the hose away from the metal tube.

My advice on getting to the TB coolant hoses is to fully remove the air box, MAF/hose to TB. It makes it a bit easier to see and manuever in there.

Oh yeah, what SDPATT said!

Fred79,

The hoses to the throttle body , except one "S" shaped hose, can be replaced with "bulk" hose from a parts store. The pre-formed "S" shaped hose can be obtained from SHO NUT, fordpartsonline, etc.

The coolant running around the throttle body will either cool or warm the air going into the intake depending on the ambient temperature under the hood. A temporary by-pass in warm weather will not hurt anything.

All the hoses on my '93 are bulk except the U shaped oil cooler hose and the radiator hoses. Even the U shaped one can be replaced with a piece of steel reinforced hydraulic hose.

That's the PCV hose. Be careful with that one, the other end is under the fuel rails and I didn't see a way to attach a new PCV hose without removing the fuel rails.

Before I knew this I cut mine off because it wouldn't budge, just as you're experiencing. Because I didn't want to remove the fuel rail to attach a new hose, I ended up splicing a some new hose onto the old hose. I used a 1/2" plastic hose splice from Home Depot as the connection between the old and new.

That hose size is kind of odd too. The common PCV hose sizes are 15/32" and 19/32". One's too small and the other's too big to fit the throttle body connection. The correct size I think is 9/16". I ended up using the too big and hose clamping it tightly.
