I'm seeing a lot of talk about deleting the third cat and resonator and replacing with a 2.5" x pipe, I'm curious if anyone has done this? If it makes a difference in power? And if you've done it do you get the rotten egg smell from the exhaust!!? Considering it just want to know if it makes a difference...... Thank you

I've done it (2.25" pipe though). If you still have factory downpipes it won't be an issue as the other 2 cats do just fine. Supposedly it helps boost a little but you probably wouldn't notice anything from doing it. With stock mufflers it doesn't really sound any different either. I have dynomax axle backs with the X pipe and 3rd cat delete and resonator delete. I honestly think it sounds amazing, but the drone is unbearable on road trips.

There is a small possibility you will see some smoke out the exhaust on hard acceleration, or after the car's been sitting awhile, with the third cat delete. Doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen.

If you delete the resonator will the car get any louder? These cars are soo quiet.

Will get louder, but will add some rasp/drone, which can mostly be eliminated with an X Pipe or a custom tuned j pipe resonator.

I just wanted some grumble. I didn't do any dyno comparisons before and after though. When I first did the X pipe I also did the mufflers so if there was gains it was between both mufflers and X pipe. I didn't really notice any power difference. Just sounded faster ;) haha. I throw my stock mufflers back on for road trips and I can't tell that I deleted the resonator or 3rd cat. Maybe there's the slightest bit more of a rumble/rasp under WOT, but I can't really tell.

I did notice seat of the pants difference when I had my 3rd cat delete. Didn't want to remove resonator cause I didn't want drone or super loud, this is our trip car. Downpipes made it little louder, but nothing that wife or daughter complains about. I have Dynomax axle back mufflers. All depends on what you want.

I installed a stainless works system , noticed a difference in performance, but the drone at speed was pretty bad. I called stainless and they sent me a pair of inserts for a (100.00 bucks) took the edge off, a lot more livable. 2014 PP with tune ,170 therm, k&H air, currently upgrading the turbos.
