thermostat help ?

Thermostats are always on the top hose, at the engine end. It's difficult to get at but if you get some of the stuff out of the way it's not too bad. Don't over torque the retaing nuts and get a thermostat with "jiggle"valves and make sure they are at the top of the thermostat when you install it.
