when i take a left, lets say at about 30mph, it sometimes feels like my power steering is pinched off, and i am carrying the weight of the car, only for a sec, then when i straighten back up its fine. Checked the ps fluid, fine there. Just had rack and pinion replaced & allignment. Mechanic says outer tie rods good. figure its got to be somethin else in the front end? thanks for any help

Double check your rear subframe bushings , when they are really done for , it binds your steering and locks it solid for a couple seconds.

lol didnt mean it that way. just know it didnt do it before is helpful. on top of that, if they used an A1 rebuilt rack, you'll have them replace it a few more times.

had this car sitting for past 4 years or so. I know it well, so mostly all these questions i am askin you all are "new" issues so to speak, in comparison to what it used to be before i parked it so long ago. Guess I just figured you knew after my lengthy intro for the past 3 days. lol It probably is that, cause I have to put the muscle into it when it decides to do that to me. thanks again

Outer tie rods have nothing to do with those symptoms, but could still be bad.

The vaps racks have a tendency to develop the symptoms you describe, where the amount of boost varies and the steering feels 'notchy' as you try to turn. This is typically worse in one direction than the other, but can be both. In my opinion, this is due to a bad rack. The combination of strain sensor in the steering shaft and boost electronics is not working the boost correctly. If you just had a rack put in and have these symptoms, I'd go back and tell them you got a bad rack and that you want it replaced under warranty.
