Anybody ever run the Tail of the Dragon on the Tennessee/North Carolina border? I'm taking my wife to Asheville, NC this weekend for our anniversary, and it is on the way. I just want to drive down it, not do anything crazy. Over 300 twists, turns, and curves and no cross traffic down eleven miles of US 129.

Did it with Nelson and Sinister Steve on the way back from convention after VIR, a lot of fun.
Enjoy the workout but watch for the oncoming crossing the center line. Photo guys have websites you can go to and purchase later.

FWIW I spent a couple of hours on the Blue Ridge Parkway a few years back, and it was an eye opening experience. I don't think you realize how big the car is until you spend a few hours throwing her around. I was alone in the car, so if you have someone ridding shotgun who can enjoy the view it would be worth it but all you will be doing is concentrating on getting around the next corner. The one really cool thing was I found an truly "Old School" town and motel when I stopped for the night. That being said I was pretty happy the next mourning when I got back out on the interstate, set the cruse on 80 and turned the music back up. LOL Not saying I would not do it again but just be ready to do some driving.

Used to live in that area for 18 years... though I haven't done it in my SHO, I rocked a 94 Thunderbird SC and an 03 Marauder through the area. SHOinVA's statement is 100% accurate and the road will kick your butt.

Keep an eye on knuckleheads crossing the center line and enjoy the trip.

Back in the real world now, but WOW! What an experience! Scared the wife half to death with the sheer drops on her side of the road. When we got to the shop at the end, he said the camera guy was taking a few weeks off, so no pics from them. :( I had a GoPro set up just for the Tail, but it crapped out, and my regular dash cam didn't keep the footage. (again, :() The memories of that drive will stick with me for a looooooooooong time, though!

That sucks about the photos. I just checked all 3 sites and it appears they stop sitting out there in mid November. I don't blame them though. I'm sure it gets cold and wet this time of year.
