i'd like to now upgrade my speakers, probably to the blue coned pioneer 2 or 3 way variety (6.5 up front, 6x8 in the rear) (listenend to them, and i feel that they'r ethe best for my budget), so now the question is, 1, can i use the stock wiring and 2, can i use the stock amp. i'd like to replace the amp down the road, so hopefully there's a way to plug an aftermarket amp into the wiring made for the stocker? or does replacing the amp mean replacing all wiring as well? absolute volume isn't an issue (although i do enjoy driving wit hthe sound up well above being able to hear any conversation :D ) i'm mainly going for a loud decent quality for as little money as i can justify. HU is pioneer DEH4600MP 50x4 MOSFET.

NOTE: please dont turn this into a debate on how the head unit would or ould not sound better wit hthe factory amp bypassed, its not bypassed, and its going to stay that way. thanks!

all u need is the speakers, u can use the stock wiring and amp. just use the wires that come with the speakers, cut em off about 6 inches from where the female quick disconnects on one end are, and put some small male disconnects on there and slide them into the stock harnesses, never had a problem with mine, and they are done that way, i might get a pic up for ya....its really easy!!!! :thumb:

awesome, and i'm guessing that you're quite happy with the setp that way (otherwise you wouldnt have reccomended it )? any reccomendations on the speakers? i'd like to spend around 100-150 tollars total on all the speakers, looking for some that'll give me good mids and highs, and ok lows, as i'll have 2 12 inch subs in the trunk to handle the lows :D . the pioneer sounded best all together to me, and since i had a pioneer HU i figured they'd be a good choice. looking for something thats "nice" but doesn't break the bank because i don't know how much longer i'll have this car. (not that its bad, i'm just itchin to move on to bigger and hopefully better things, can you say 1970 SS chevelle mmmmmm.

i am very satisfied with my system. get the blue coned pioneer 3 ways... i have 6.5" 4 ways up front, they were the same price as the 3 ways so i was like "what the ****". the 3 ways and 4 ways sound pretty much the same to me. the system is awesome with highs and mids, and i was pleasantly suprised with the low end on em, they have some deep end for 6x8's! i added a 10" mtx and amp in a custom box and i got some great sound. u can get both sets of speakers for like 110 bux shipped from etronics.com! oh ya, the last like crazy and are very durable... i had my system (hu, 6.5's, 6x8's, and minus the 10") in my SLO when i rolled it, and it all still works flawlessly..... :thumb:

sounds great, etronics is where i got my HUso i planned to go there for the speakers as well... with all this in, then i'm getting 2 JL 12W0 subs, a box, and an amp (****** MTX) for 75 bux.. should be pretty sweet.. :****: so, when putting the speakers in, is it a complete door panel removal (based on the look of the speaker grille in the door i'm guessing it is) and the back deck- on the 89 SHO once i took the interior wall of the trunk down the cardboard/carpet piece NEVER stayed back up afterwards, what should i make sure i do so that it'll go back up in this car? i think my dad might havebroken the old one..

its a full door panel removing up front, but all u have to do in the back is take the grills off and take out the 4 bolts, swap the new speaker, and bolt back in...its easy...oh, and for the fronts make sure ur wire clears the window when its all the way down...mine got caught one time and ripped off....... :thumb:

it's probably too late, but instead of getting pioneer coaxials i think you might want to check out these CADENCE ZXN-6K on ebay, guy was selling them free shipping for 90$ msrp of 300, and from all the reviews on car audio forum they are worth it. only problem is that they may not like the stock amps power much
