The CKP sensor (I wish everyone would use the new terminology for it) is gapped with a feeler gauge of the correct thickness and then placed between the crankshaft vane and the sensor itself. Once in place at the correct gap, the 2 screws that hold down the CKP sensor are tightened and you are ready to go.

Why the new terminology?
Ford made the change years ago, both the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor used to be called the CPS. If everyone would use the newer terminology we wouldn't get confused in posts that weren't absolutely clear on what we were talking about.
Current terminology acronyms:
CKP - crankshaft position sensor
CMP - camshaft position sensor

The CPS, CKP, etc. can also be known as the PIP (Profile Ignition Pickup). Even more fun 3-letter terminology!

Mr. Anonymous:
Actually it was a change by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers).

Read a great note on it in this thread.
My mistake again... :) My point was that it was changed though... Look in your link though, I was ******* about it back in April 03 too. :D
