I am going to buy a used blend door actuator.
I can remember reading about using a small battery (6V or 9V?) to test the unit when it is out of the car. Don't remember any details but I think that takes it to 3/4 open, or something like that.
Can't find it anywhere now.
Does anyone know how to test these things?

No, but I would also like to know as well in case I ever fix the one on the 89. With these parts being obsolete, it's pertinent to test a used one to make sure it works before you rip out the dash only to install another bad part.

That is a help, but the SHO units are an automatic climate control, which means we don't have the **** running a rheostat that is sensed by the blend door motor. The ones we have are a really clever design, until they break.

Well i tried. I will try to find a wiring diagram and see if that helps. Maurice

Thanks bunch for diagram was unable to find it. If had the module fairly easy. Power to it and ground and also to door motor. The 3 wires between 2. Rest of module for AC, lights and english/metric. Then one wire to prevent fan. But not testing that. Looks like it has a variable resistor in motor area to tell the module what to do with the motor. Unsure maybe voltage to motor circuit only. Reverse voltage to reverse motor. You could take ohm meter and read variable resistor. Unsure if would work. My thoughts. Maurice

Wow, what a find. Mine is a 90, but aside from that, this is a great start. I understand squat about these things, but it looks like pin numbers 7 & 8 would be a good place to put a small voltage to see if there is a reaction at the motor.
