After installing a new timing belt on a 3.0L, I'm wondering how to set the tension. I'm guessing that when I loosen the tensioner nut, the torsion spring will tension the belt to the proper level by itself. Then, just tighten the tensioner nut to spec. Is this correct?

How often should one check/adjust the tension on the belt?

TIA-

Nate

Yep. That is the procedure in the Ford/Helm manual. Make sure to rotate the crank around a couple times and then loosen and re-tightenr the tensioner bolt.
