temp sensor question

First off, what are some signs that a temp sensor is on its way out. Im asking because my car is telling me its running really hot, but only when im not on the gas, when I rev it, any where from about 3000 to 7000 the tempature drops, i mean immediatly, it will get above "N" and when i rev it, the temp drops to about the middle of "M". I just replaced the t-stat and my tempature was a little more controled but now its flying all around. Also where is the temp sensor located, i looked around where i would guess but i figure its in a hose or something that i wouldnt see and again the chiltons manual shows how much it ultimatly bites the big one.

You have air in the system Get a new cap and it will work it's way out on it's own.
