Just pull down your glove box and the computer is there. Just push it in. You can have Ted reprogram it though a dyno with A/F will help when doing upgrades.

You don't just push the chip in... Most likey, your computer has never been taken out. You'll have to pull off the rear bracket and remove the sticker covering the service port. Some find it easier just to remove the whole computer. To do this, you'll have to remove the screw holding the harness to the computer in the engine bay.

You may want to use some tape to ensure the LPM does not become dislodged. You will not be able to reuse the rear bracket for the computer for installation.

I believe Ted's e-mail address is [email protected]

To add to Jason's post - if your a chip or diagnostic tool has never been attached to the J3 port on your computer (where the LPM will be plugging into), I would recommend that you remove the computer from the car entirely and clean the silicone sealant and dielectric grease off of the J3 service port before installing the chip. Failure to do so could prevent the chip from making proper contact with the terminals on the J3 port and could keep your computer from functioning properly, assuming it even works at all.

For tips on cleaning the edge card connector, flip over to page 2 of the EEC Tuner's user guide:

As for your compatibility Q - an LPM programmed for a '94 will also work on a '95. ;)

While $150 isn't bad, I personally wouldn't pay any more than $125 shipped for one.

Just my two cents, though ...

Anyone selling a used one that is willing to let it go for that price. You also have to remember that if the LPM is not programmed for your computer or given mods, you'll have to pay a fee to Ted B. to reclaim the "LPM" status (to have the chip rewritten to what you need it to).

If you buy an LPM for $150 and have to get it reprogrammed, you only save around $25 versus buying it new.

Unless his pricing has changed, a new LPM can be had from Ted for $200 shipped.

For not much more than that, though, you can have a much nicer SCT chip from Doug. ;)

No... Last I knew, Ted's (the fee explained above) fee was $25... $150 (cost used) + $25 (programming fee) = $175. New is $200.

$200 - $175 = $25 savings ;)

I figured you could put two and two together and figure out the fee was $25.

The odds are that you will have to get it reprogrammed; unless it is a very lucky match for your particlular car (very unlikely), your car will run worse than stock, as you will find out when you insalll it.

The answer to your Q lies in how the chip is programmed. While an LPM programmed for a '95 will technically work on a '94, a chip is often tailored to make use of specific modications that may have been installed on the car in question.

What kind of mods are/were on the car that you're removing the chip from?

Disconnect your battery also before you remove the computer or plug the Ted B. chip in. Try also to avoid any static electricity, touch your car to ground yourself before removing the chip from its anti-static bag. The eproms are pretty tough, but better safe than sorry.
