Tape Stuck TDE3

Hey guys. I have a tape stuck in the player of my '97 SHO. It shows TDE3 every time it's started and every time I try to eject the tape. I currently have the thing ripped out and am trying to get it out, but I have no idea how to get this tape out without destroying the deck.

When looking at the back, there is a metal shroud that can be removed, nothing's under it but black plastic that is totally solid. Help!

P.S. I'm using the tape to actuate the player so I can use the AUX in I created for my iPod, so I'm not totally stuck in the stone age.

I think I read a post somewhere about hardwiring in an aux jack to use an ipod or other mp3. Can't help with the tape removal unfortunately.

if done right, the tape player's not sending signal to the RCU, so as long as it's working, why do you need to remove it?

Not working, just says TDE3.

Did you ever figure out how to get the tape out? I am having the same issue. It gave me tde1 a few times and now tde3. Player does not recognize the tape is there. It ejected it once when I shut off the car but like an idiot I put the tape back in and now its completly stuck.

Happended to me too... I just ended up buying a used football on ebay and replaced the whole thing. problem solved(well except for the tape is still stuck in the old one)

About how much does one run? I may just rip the tape out and say to **** with it.....I'm tired of the wire hanging there.
