In the process of replacing the rear struts, I snapped one of the rear swaybar endlinks (lousy rust belt SHO's), whats the best option to replace them? There doesn't really seem to be any aftermarket 'performance' endlinks for sale, and as far as bushings go, i guess TRP is the way to go? I don't track the car, so not thumping around on the cross bronx is worth slowing it down around the curves. So just Motorcraft end links are good enough, or the associated Autozone part?

alan

PS - I'm replacing the struts with the motorcraft ones (94-95 SHO specific). Does anybody have any comments on these?

There are upgrades for the rears. It would be a generic one with TPR or poly bushings. I got mine from the SHOSHop but they look like ones you can get from any autoparts store. Just get the right length and you will be fine.

Basically it is a long bolt with a brass sleeve, 4 bushings, a nut and few washers.

I personally prefer the endlinks that RCM sells, they are a reinforced version of the original ones, they don't have a sleeve (which IMHO, is a piece of crap) and have some solid bushings on them.

I tend to stick with MOOG suspension components. Very good quality, inexpensive, and available at any parts store. The MOOG components are typically very heavy duty, and the bushings are TPR.

I agree with Kenny.
allthough i just have the HD kit from Energy suspension, in the rear... the fronts are Moog though, and very well designed.. im thinking of switching the rears out for some Moogs as well...
i cant complain with these though, they do their job very well...

Check out a Hellwig kit vs. almost everyone else.

3/8 bolt instead of 5/16th. Larger diameter, FLAT bushings for near zero deflection, and immediate response. About $12.00 for the parts (Call them and ask for the 9.5" Center-to-center kit - it's in parts) and you won't regret it.

BTW, it stiffens the feel of the bar considerably since the bar responds faster, but smooths the ride out for the same reason.

those kits seem great, but as i'm pressed for time, i just cruised by the local autozone and picked up some generic ones....the longest they had were about 1 or 2 inches shorter than the original. As long as nothing rubs or touches, it's no big deal, right?

i agree with Doug on aftermarket sleeved endlinks. i bought OE replacements from Ford for 22 each, and they came with 8 TPR bushings, washers, and nuts.

by installing a shorter or longer endlink, youre changing the location of the sway bar. it may or may not provide ill handling characteristics and/or weaken the strength of the swaybar.

No, they are not. Looks like it though! They are much wider, but the same thickness as regular bushings. The washers are larger and thicker than regular ones, as well as the bolt.
