I was always under the impression that Gen I's came with 26mm rear sway bars.
So I'm checking out the SHOSHOP site for some odd reason and I see this:

"1st Generation SHOs ‘89-‘90 used 24 mm bar in the front and 26 mm bar in the rear. In ’91 and ‘92 Ford went to 23 mm bar in the rear to increase understeer".

Is this a misprint or have I been mistaken that 91' came with 26mm?

There may, repeat may, have been a production run change sometime in the 1991 model year. My January, 1991 issue SHO definitely has the 26mm rear bar. Only a 1991 SHO that was equipped with the alleged smaller bar could resolve the question.

I've seen some 91's with the smaller rear bars, most have the 26mm though.

Seems Ford was pretty part specific on the early SHO's (pretty much they got the upgraded SHO hardware they were supposed to, over the std SLO's on the assembly line). Starting in '91 and '92 and on, you find all kinds of stuff. SLO gas tanks, fuel pumps, odd bar sizes, etc. Raid the parts bins and use whats there...

My '91 with a 6/91 build date has a 26mm rear sway bar along with the rod shifter and plastic hood.

I know that when SHOTIME, Fred Hurder, Kirk, and myself were parting that Gen 1, we found out that the fronts are 21MM and we are expecting the rear to be 26MM

Just out of curiousity what does a 94 have?
Only Ford knows...after 92 they really started putting some random sizes on the cars. Check shotimes, they have a list of all known sizes. I think the 94-95s ranged from a 19-22 up front, and 21-23 in back, but I'm sure there is even some variance there.

My June '95 built MTX had the smaller 20.6mm/21mm ATX combo and the SLO 100 lbs/in rear springs.

I left the 20.6mm FSB but install poly mount bushings. I now have a 26mm RSB with poly mount and link end bushings and HD link ends. Once I get her out on a track, I will decide if I like the oversteer tendency of that combo or whether I want to balance it out more with the SLO wagon 22mm FSB and corresponding poly mount bushings. The 24mm FSB tends produce understeer unless you run the Gen I police 28mm RSB or an aftermarket equivalent.
