Hi Jeff :)
I was not really pleased with the seats that were in my '97 SHO.... They didn't hold me in the seat like the seats in the Gen-1 cars, due to the lack of side bolsters.
Possible, yes. Would I do it? **** no!

Try to find another set of Gen-1 seats, or possibly Gen-2 seats. They are slightly different.
Take care,

There are at least 2 people here that have 3nd gen seats in a 1st or 2nd gen (they both have the same seat mounts)

Thanks for the input guys, i have read a few forums from way back, saying that there was some drilling involved in the placement of the back seat and that the fronts where a little tight against the doors. I like the Gen I seats, but the Gen II look alittle plusher. Since i just sold my house, i am looking to replace all the leather in my '90. I saw the tan ones on e-bay, thats why i made this inquiry. Having some newer leather, would really nice. I love my car, but when you open the door, i looks like some one was living on those seats!! I just got the car back today from the shop, put intire new suspision on it and rubber. Got to say, its like she's a new car all over. She yanks and banks like a fighter jet. A new interior and she will go another 13 years!!
