Back in Michigan ... again.
I should be safe posting this up here as I don't think she really checks the forum these days (admittedly I'm pretty absent myself).

I'm trying to put together a surprise party for Michelle. It'll be in Kalamazoo on Saturday, June 11. She's got friends scattered all over the place and rather than try to track them all down, I think I'll actually reach most just by posting here!

Kind of last minute I know, and I'm still working out plans. At minimum, we'll be having dinner and staying the night in town. If a bunch of people make it, I'd love to have the dinner with everyone then just go out for the eve and have a good time. It's not like there isn't anything to do in K-zoo. It all depends on who can make it.

I should stress that this isn't a SHO meet, though seeing a bunch of SHOs is never a bad thing :) And since she likes them, she'd certainly enjoy that too!

I know I haven't been active; just still trying to get life back to normal after the craziness that has been the past two years. Hasn't been easy, but things are finally turning for the better. Not trying to play a guilt card, but she'd really REALLY enjoy seeing everyone.

If you think you can make it to Kalamazoo for the late afternoon/evening on June 11 for her birthday, please post up! Dinner won't be expensive or fancy or anything like that, don't need gifts or cards or junk. Just the camaraderie is gift enough!

Thanks much everyone--hope some of you can make it :)

I've got nothing on the calender for that day, so all I have to do is convince my wife..... or take her and the kid along too (that would mean no SHO though)...

hmmmm...good chance i could make that, and depending on what day it falls on, i might could coerce the wifey to tag along as well. ****, if i can find an ABS module, we may come in the 98 and let it be seen for once.

I'll see if a few of us Ft Wayne guys can make it that day. Thanks for letting us know.

Been wondering where you were noticing you haven't been on for a while. Glad to know things are settling down a bit for you. Good hearing from you. :)

Thanks Mike, seeing some of you guys would be the bomb!

I wouldn't say things are setting down yet, but we're at least stepping in the right direction finally.

I just booked a room at Best Western for the night, so we'll definitely be staying in the area. The plan right now is just dinner and drinks/fun later in the eve, be it bar hopping, mini golfing/go karts in MAttawan (actually that sounds like a LOT of fun). We may get down to K-zoo earlier in the day for stuff, not sure on that yet but dinner will be at 5, and it won't be fancy. Figure on $10 for the dinner, drinks included.

Just post up if you can make it and I'll PM the specific details and take it from there. Unfortunately her family can't make it so I'm REALLY trying to get friends together :)

Thanks Tim (Tims actually) :)

I can't convince anyone else? East siders? Bill? Jim? I know it's a bit of a haul, but you'd positively make her day (and mine) and she's long overdue for a big party!

Update: I'm thinking now that we'll go down early and hit Formula K in Mattawan in the early afternoon. What would be AWESOME would be a "tiered" surprise party...meeting up with some people at Formula K, then head for dinner and meet up with MORE people at the restaurant (King Wok on M43 in Kzoo is going to be the destination--awesome chinese buffet/mongolian bbq, dinner should only be $10, drink included), then go do something after dinner; perhaps drinks and such at Wayside.

Anyone?

I'll see what I can do. All of the ******** ******** at work (the people in charge) take all of their vacations in June and July so I get stuck working pretty much every saturday. I will see if I can make something happen. I think K-Zoo was like a 2.5/ 3 hour ride last time. Is the go-kart place the one we went to during the convention a few years back? The 2-seat V-twin powered kart was pretty cool.

How early afternoon for the go karts? I get out of work at 1, then I'd have to clean up and make the 45 min. or so trip. I couldn't convince to wife to come, so it looks like me and the white 89 it will be!

Weather permitting, probably around 2:30 at Mattawan for the go karts & golf. I don't see us being there for more than an hour or so. The exits at Mattawan from 94 are closed for construction, so just be aware of that. You'll have to take the prior exit (Paw Paw from the west, 9th street from the east IIRC) then take Red Arrow highway through Mattawan and out to the park.

That would great if you could make it Jim, but don't get yourself in trouble or anything.

For that fact, I don't want anyone breaking their backs or anything to come. I know gas isn't exactly cheap and times aren't great. All I'm asking is that, if you know Michelle and can spare a few hours on Saturday, you'll be giving her a day she'll remember for years and she could really use that right now.

I'm going to go ahead a put up the tentative plan for the day:

2-2:30pm: Formula K funpark in Mattawan (weather permitting) If there's rain we'll probably just bump around K-zoo, visit some old haunts.

5pm: King Wok buffet in Kalamazoo, M-43 & Drake Rd (just about a mile east on M-43 at Exit 38 from US-131

???: Bars, drinking, kind of open. Been awhile since we experienced K-zoo nightlife, so we'll play it by ear. We're staying in town (room is already booked) so the sky's the limit.

Thanks all :)

Update--Go Karts at Formula K are out. She's not keen to that and nobody (save for the Tims--you guys rock) is showing up anyway, either for that or the dinner. So now we're just doing dinner at King Wok at 5, then whatever might happen afterwards, which likely won't be much. It's turning out to be a bust, guess we just don't have the close ties with folks anymore. Can't even get my family to go. I know I've been pretty invisible for awhile, sorry for that everyone. Don't have much to say except sometimes life happens, and for the last two years we've been its *****. Was really pulling for something special for her birthday; I'll just have to work harder next time.
