This is the weirdest thing that is happening. My 93 MTX intermittently started to lose what seems to be electrical power. The Elec. Climate Control loses power and reset itself, the ABS light comes on - and having this occur several times- stays on. The rpm meter spikes to 8000rpm every 20/30second or so.

The weird thing is what happens after I pull over and park. The engine surges when I push the BRAKE pedal.

This seems to be some kind of electrical problem. I have a +battery cable that needs replacing - the Ford dealer quotes me almost $150 for just the cable-, which may play a role in this.

Any suggestions?

It does sound like a bad electrical connection causing all of the electrical problems. What not just cut (grind) off the terminal from the cable end and install a new terminal, available from any auto parts store for about $1.38. At that price, why not do both?

Man with two new, $1.38 terminals on his battery,
Scott
