Trying to get my ducks in a row for trans removal this weekend. TC is leaking and a $900 local estimate has convinced me I can do this myself. Trans is shifting exactly the same as it did 35k ago so I'm not opting for the $21-2200 rebuild.

My newest concern is figuring out how/where to connect chains to the engine to support it from above.

Is there a standard location that is typically used?

I have a tentative deal in the works on a once used support beam so that SHOULD be covered (if not I'll just make something).

Rear connection is on the back cylinder head towards the driver's side.

Front connection is the "lifting eye" bracket to the left of the oil dipstick.

There is a "sticky" thread on the engine support rig. User name sdpatt.

Edit: I just noticed this was in the V8 section. The above instructions are for the Gen I-II V6 SHO's.

When i would lift the engine I wrapped my straps around the exhaust manifolds.

I should add to remove the dipstick tube or at least be very careful of the strap catching it.
