Here goes...I have a 93 SHO MTX with a 3.2 engine. Did the swap a year ago and changed the rod bearings. I don't know how many miles this engine originally had but I put in about 8,000 miles in it since the swap.
About a week ago, I noticed a loud "knocking" sound coming from the engine. My fear was that I spun a bearing. Only thing...can something like this happen all of a sudden. No warning whatsoever. I had dealt with rod failure in the past and normally it "warns" you it's coming.
Something I did notice was a "smokey" exhaust. Under high loads, the engine would emmit enough smoke for me to notice. I worried that it was a burning oil. Only thing, the smoke was not blue. It was simply exhaust smoke and a little too much. (whitish but not like coolant burning white).
Last thing, I pulled out all the spark plugs and noticed that 1-2 were in normal condition. 3-6 were carbon fouled. 3-6 were covered in dry black soot. Changed those plugs and happened to new one as well. Wire and/or coil issue?
Just want to know options from you SHO pros. What should I do? What caused or is causing my engine to "knock"? What do you recommend? Thanks in advance. Sorry its long.
