ok i went to to an independent shop right before winter they told me my subframe bolts and bushings were shot. they replaced them without telling me about the recall for the bolts anything i can do about this it cost me like 400 bucks for this when my friend just got it done for free at ford.i know independents cant perform recalls but arent they suppose to inform you of them? im just curious about this and it also ****** me off when they told me this was wrong with my car and it turned out to be a busted tranny after they fixed this so it was a waste of money plus it didnt fix anything

Independent garages arnt aware of ALL the recalls/bulletins , there's just too much.

Thats why you need to check if everything is done at the dealers place each time you buy a used car.

If it was the bushings that were shot, they are not covered under the recall. Just the bolts and new nut plates and washers. The dealer probably would have charged you even more to replace the bushings.
