I went to pick up the subframe recall kit today from my local ford dealer.. They gave me one for free since it hadn't been done yet. They had mentioned it to me earlier, but didn't perform the recall because of my speaker kick panels in the floor. I'M REALLY GLAD they didn't, as the instructions included with the kit tell the techs to drill a 2.5 inch hole in the floorpan?!?
BAH! i say to that.
just FYI for anyone else that didn't know that's how they access the upper nut...

I put it off for a year.It sucks, but the only way to change the bolt is thru the floor.I`ve broken a sub frame bolt before, and it`s worth getting done at least for safety. They do plug up the holes too :p
FWIW,Ford also installed the headliner before the roof got welded on.It can be bent out the rear door with some small problems. It`s like a Lego car,one piece on top of the other.

I went to Ford about 2 weeks ago to get mine done.....then they tell me 'there's no open ticket on it' so they won't do it. GRRR Really pevved me off, so I had toolboy79 do it. Thanks AGain Chuck...

You need to tell the Ford dealer that your car was or is registered in a state or area that uses a lot of salt. I was in Germany for three years and now live in Arizona...the dealer wants me to call and make an appt. before I come in.
