don't tighten those babies to much...just until it gets a little snug then stop. Otherwise you will break out the thread on the AL heads and they will spin spin spin me round like a record playing right round round.

sorry.

An excerpt from my valve gapping procedure (this is my experiance talking):

45. Install the valve covers. It is best to install the front bank valve cover first so as not to reach across the open front bank to install the rear cover. Be careful that the seal stays in the grooves in the valve covers. This is very important on the rear valve cover since the interference and visibility make it more difficult to install.

46. Install the valve cover bolts and washers (place the best looking bolts on the forward valve cover) and carefully torque them to 8-11 lb-ft (96-132 lb-in). DO NOT over torque the valve cover bolts. This can result in the either the bolts shearing or the aluminum threads in the head stripping. Neither is desirable.

SHOguy11, Please PLEASE use a period .......after what sometimes resembles a sentence. Also a cap for the start of one would help in reading them. See how much easier & quicker it is to read. Thanx. Sorry but I have to read some posts twice just to comprehend. Gettin old. LOL

SHOfun 93:
2 words...TORQUE WRENCH...

they are even more critical with our aluminum heads on these motors
I managed to cause havoc on my valve cover a while back. I broke 2 bolts and needed to repair a thread before I finally found out that the handle on my torque wrench came unglued and the window wasn't reading the correct number. I've made sure to glue it back in the correct position since then. That really sucked.
