I was trying to remove my struts and that the bottom of the strut there is the air hose or some sort of hose that runs into the struts. I was wondering how to remove it without breaking it. I have everything else done, but i am alittle worried about trying to turn it off. It says on the side not to open. Any ideas will help. I have looked all over the internet and can not find anything. Thanks.. hail

That is the electric wiring for the SARC strut. It stays on the strut. Unplug it from under the fender liner.

There are no performance struts for the GEN 3. The OEM struts are about $125 each. If you disable the electrical function of the struts they are actually quite good. Either disconnect the plug on the struts or disconnect the ride height sensors.

I would think they would last 100k or so. The '99 is the orphaned child with only one year of struts specific to it. If it were me I would put the SARC struts on and run them in the hard mode.

I am trying an experiment on my 97 sho. I ordered Roush lowering springs and I put them on this weekend. I took the SARC struts out and replaced then with gas Monroe Sensatrack struts made for the 99 taurus sho or se . It did lower the car more then I thought it would, but the ride is great. It is not rough, but it is firm. It corners better then when it had the OEM struts in, and the kicker is they are 1/2 as much as the SARC struts. I thought that the spruts and the springs would cause the dreaded lowered car bounce over everything and I do not have that. I removed the fuse from the front to take the power from the whole SARC. I hope this works. I put on about 200 miles so far and the ride is way better then the factory struts. If it does not work I will just take then out and put the other struts thatI had in per they we not very old. thumb boink
