Just swapped the struts on my '99 out for the "2002 Taurus" Motorcraft struts. They are working great so far. The Motorcraft part numbers you want are AST50 (Front Left) AST51 (Front right) and AST52 (Rear, so get 2). These come with the lower spring seat and a boot kit. I replaced the upper mounts, upper spring seat and bearings in the front, and the coils while I was at it. Raised the car about 1/2" all around (which is good - I was banging the framerails on speedbumps before) and it handles sooo much better.
EDIT: Get the struts from RockAuto while they are still in stock. The RockAuto price is much cheaper than anywhere else I found, and it's within $10/each of the Monroe struts which by all accounts don't last very long on our cars.
