stretched timing belt

Curious guys if your timing belt is alittle stretched due from old age(basically needing a new belt) would your car loose some sort of performance. and how much of a loss could you have.

Yes.

Any loss of proper valve timing due to a stretched or improperly installed belt will greatly affect engine performance.

The amount might be small or might be great, it depends on the degree of error.

Of all the regularly scheduled preventative maintenance services, I believe that the installation of a new timing belt has the possibility for restoring the greatest amount of the engine's original power output. The valve gap adjustment is designed to prevent cam lobe wear, but unless there is significant damage to a shim or cam lobe, this adjustment can probably not be measured by a change in the engine's output. Stopping a spark misfire by replacing old plugs or wires is considered corrective maintenance and could have been averted by performing the scheduled preventative maintenance.

thank you scott i wil be doing it very soon as to when i get my engine out while ill be doing the rod bearings to
