The right rear brakes on my '92 are hanging up causing that wheel to get hotter sometimes than the other wheels. We have put a new caliper on, greased the slider pins (one was frozen) and put on a new rubber brake line. What else could the problem be? Would it be that proportioning block? Thanks, Will

It could also be the e-brake cable. Try running with the cable disconnected to see if it makes any difference.

Of course, you won't have an e-brake while doing this.

The proportioning valve is supposed to affect both rear brakes equally. Of course, it is possible that it is not working properly.

I have a good pedal, like I've always had. I'll give the e-brake thing a try. Thanks, Will

Greasing the slider pins may not have been sufficient -- they may be bent or otherwise distorted due to high heat, and you're probably still hanging the caliper. Replace the pins, boots and bolts and hopefully your problem will be solved. Inspect the bracket carefully too as the heat can deform those too.
