I was wondering if anybody has had problems getting sound out of their jbl system and heard of the remote turn on lead? My system is all connected and I have verified the wiring to the amps but I can get no sound without shorting it out. I was told that the remote turn on lead needs to be checked behind the head unit. Does anyone know what this is?

If you are referring ot the factory JBL system remote turn on lead that goes to the factory amps, you are better off using the power antenna lead instead. I just put my system back in my car last week and tried to use the remote turn on lead in the trunk for my aftermarket amps. Didn't work, so I checked the voltage from it. It's only like 2.7 volts when the radio is on! eek! Ford and JBL can certainly come up with some weird and stupid ideas sometimes. Anyways, to get around this, I jsut ran a remote wire from the deck and tapped into the power antenna wire. Forget which color it is, but it's in the diagrams I posted last week. You can tap into this wire behind the factory head unit, it's in the main power plug harness that plugs into the radio.

Also if you mix and match amps and headunits from different years you can have the same problem. A 2nd gen headunit won't turn on a first gen amp. The 2nd gen amps have a 5 volt turn on and the 1st gen amps have a 12 volt turn on, othere than that they are the same.
