I have a 95 ATX and the steering wheel moves from right to left constantly! It does this at all speeds and really bad at lower speeds. Could this just be from bad tires or do I have a bigger problem? I was thinking it might be from the rotors being warped because when I slow down the vibration about kills ya!...but it does it even when your off the brakes. Thanks in advance for any help!!

FYI---I'm a noob to the forum and so far...love it! Keep doing a great job sho owners!!!:woo-hoo:

not to jack ur thread, but was wondering if digsj7 or anyone else has same issue.
when on a sloped road, I always have to steer the opposite way, more than what I consider "normal".
wheel bearings too? and or strut mounts?

I had this same Issue...On both of our 92's. In each case, The wheels bearings were shot. With the car on the ground, See if you have any Play in the on the actual front wheels.

It's whenever I drive the car...sloped road or not. I'll replace my wheel bearings and see what I get. Thanks!

Bearings do need to be pressed, in and out. But it is easy to check them to see if they are even a problem. Just grab the top of your wheel/tire and see if there is any play.

Is it more pronounced through slow speed corners?

Yes it is, at slow speeds the steering wheel moves back and forth over an inch both ways. I suppose the rim and tire need to be elevated when checking for any play, right? I was also thinking that maybe a tie rod was giving me the play in the steering wheel...but then would I get the vibration with it...?

Do it while its on the Ground and the suspension has Load on it.

Warped rotors are most likely cause - these front brakes are very sensitive to how the lug nuts are torqued - if they are not torqued properly, they will warp very quickly.

Welp, the cause of the terrible steering and vibration was simply broken belts in two tires. Swapped em out and vibration is gone and steering is good! oh yeah... and wheel bearings seem ok too.
