The steering wheel on my car wobbles, (or vibrates) back and forth at speed. (+40) It also wobbles while applying the brake over 55mph. I know it is not the rotors because I did a complete brake job and changed rotors and pads all the way around. If it matters, the steering wheel wobbled before i did the brakes too. Also, I don't think it is the tires because after rotating the tires, it still does it. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks!

There must be a dynamic imbalance to create a shake. There may be looseness in the steering linkages or wheel bearings that allow the shake to be larger than it should be, but only an imbalance can create the shake. A shake in the steering wheel is usually created by a tire imbalance. A good balance is almost a black art. Have the balance checked. If the wheel is shaking during braking, a rotor is not true to the caliper. If it is a new rotor, you may wnat to check the wheel bearings. Only you can determine what is causing the shake by examination, service and repair. We can only give you ideas where to look. Happy hunting.

Is there any tugging or pulling in the steering?
Like do you have to keep it off-center to go straight?
Did you check the tie rods, are they loose or bent?
Make sure the boots are not split and you haven't lost hub-grease.
Out of round tire ? Belt separation, look for a bubble between the tread.

:) I like this test best of all::::.easier to see at night..BTW..two drivers, look at your rear tires from the other guy's point of view, then drive along side and look for the vibration, you can see it happening!!!!!!. :)

All possiblities..
Braking at 55mph,,did you just do this as a test?..if your calipers are fading, it will not cause a wobble, they scrape and loudly!!!! After your next test drive, and the famous 55+mph braking, go around and "feel" the temp at the wheel,,are any significantly warmer or cooler than the others.....then either way, if it is different, that is the caliper to look at..!

The car does drift off to the right. I have to keep the steering wheel to the left about 5 degrees. I just had the right hub replaced due to the bearing wearing out. It pulled before and after the hub was replaced.
