you need to lower the subframe about 4" to get enough clearance to get the rack out/in.

The old rack will come out through the hole in the fender well on the driver's side, with some wiggling. Removing the outer tie rod ends makes it easier. No need to lower subframe, there is really plenty of room. The FSM recommends this way. I have no idea about getting the ZF rack in that way, but hope you'll let us know.

You have to lower the subframe a little by loosening the rear subframe bolts while leaving them threaded a little, in order to remove the rack through the driver side fender area. I imagine it would be pretty darn hard to wiggle it out without doing this.

Rack is installed make sure anyone doing this use the short bolts out of the gen2 rack and put them in the gen 3 rack the bolts on that rack are at least 3inchs if not longer.....otherwise you will not i get it in with out trouble....just waiting on the custom line to come in have the gen 3 line just waiting on the gen 2 line to come in soo far pretty simple up grade very excited
