Steering problem

Does anyone have and suggestions for me. When I come up to a rolling corner. Thats a corner that you dont have to stop for. If i am still braking while I start the turn, I can barley turn the steering wheel, it feels like I have no power steering. All these turns are being perfomred about 15 to 20 mph. This can be remidyed by reving the engine when I make my turn, or letting off the brakes a few seconds before I turn. Even slowing way down to less then 5 mph will make this not be a problem. Is this vaps related? Subframe busshing related? Something else?

My 02 Sport Trac had the reverse, when I was at full throttle I could not turn the wheel, turned out I had a bad pump. Not sure if that could cause your problem.

it is more than likely the VSS, vehicle speed sensor. i have had this before also. check you codes first. the 452 code doesnt bring up the engine light... (ask me how i know...my mech that installed my tranny didnt plug in both tranny sensors!)

start there. if thats not it, then you are into steering rack or pump problems.

But your sure this isnt a subframe bushing problem correct

well it wouldnt hurt to get under there and look at the subframe bushings. but if you dont hear any clunking or anything when your braking it should be alright. unless your bushings are so bad that it is letting the subframe hang down and putting stress on the steering shaft and making it bind up on you. just look at them and you should know. otherwise i would call it that you have a VSS issue.

there has been issues with broken subframe mounts causing the steering to get stuck at a fully turned position. i suppose that it could make it harder on the tie rods etc... if the subframe was in the wrong position...but your subframe is already at its highest/fully seated point (like it is fully bolted up to the rest of the car), when you are driving... as the cars weight in resting on it.
it is more likely that you would have more drivability problems if this was the case.

A couple of my SHOs have done this too. It happens to me now and then when pulling into a parking spot.

The subframe issue will more likely jam the steering for a little moment. But this one is easy to look for , just get a camera take pics of subframe bushings and post them here if unsure.
