Well i got rid of the groan and creaking in the front end today. What i did was jack up the drivers side, loosen the top strut tower nuts so the strut would drop down a little. Then i sprayed the whole area with **** , tightned it back up, went for a drive and no more noise! Quick easy fix! I would recommend trying it first if you have noise , as it is so easy to do. Chris. :)

that is not a fix, its a band-aid. your noise will be back sooner than you expect.

^^ Agreed.. Its like putting wd-40 on a creeky door.. You end up having to do it several times cause the noise returns.. Only in this instance the noise will be back MANY times faster.

Clunking or squeaking from upper mount area is definitely a strut mount is going bad. Squeaking when you turn the wheel could be an inner tie rod. They tend to stay tight(not feeling any play when checking), but the ball inside is dry and it squeaks when turning the wheel. I had this problem on my 95 GL. The noise can resonate to the outer tie rod, making you think that it's bad, when in fact it's the inner tie rod that is bad.

I've got this creaking with brand new quickstruts. I'd like to go with the rubbing diagnosis James mentioned but mine goes away when it warms up.

It did it on the way to work last time I drove the car, 10-15 minutes, 40 degrees out. By lunch time (60+) no more creak. (?)
