Every so often I get a squeak when turning my '12 that sounds like it's coming from inside the steering column. It doesn't do it all the time and doesn't have any actual affect on the steering, just a noise. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this and/or knows what causes it? Our '14 Explorer does it too. Thanks.

Me too on my 2011. Rubbing noise and the steering stiffens up in winter. Got a new intermediate steering shaft I'm going to replace when it gets warmer. See if that helps?

Could be, my steering doesn't stiffen up when I hear the squeak though . . . I don't run mine in the winter so cold doesn't play a factor in my scenario. Keep us posted on if the shaft cures the noise

I get a squeaking/squeeling noise when I turn my wheel, but only when its cold out. I've had it since 90k miles and hasn't caused me any issues yet.

Mine does it also when below zero out. It's normal. It's a FORD thing.
