Thats odd. Maybe your having a string of bad luck? Are you getting new or used? I had the same problem putting an alternator on my first gen3. I was getting parts from Napa, then switched to Autozone Duralast Gold. Been running those ever since.

There isn't anything between the starter and the battery, so doubt something else is causing them to die. Are you getting them tested out of the car?

Depends on al you expect to replace. Yes these are definitely a niche price point. But you will be happy once you get it done... All other versions of these engines you could replace most everything for about that price, but they were used in multiple lines of production cars. These V8 engines, were not used in any other factory vehicle.

Aren't alot of these gaskets reusable? It's been a long time but the mls gaskets should be reusable. The HG's are $250. Not sure which ones you would need to replace in addition.

I have only gone through one starter, and that only happened a couple of years ago. The one that came with the car finally rotted out its main high voltage cable. It was actually turning to powder. But still, 20 years and 200k+ on the original is pretty good.

If your dealing with a head gasket issue, its likely there is damage and reusing it wouldn't be advisable. The intake gaskets are also a coated metal, but with all these gaskets if there is no damage, they can be reused.

I think for the intakes you could simply use gasket maker with or without the gasket.
Some have tried to recoat the MLS gasket, but keep in mind that too much coating or too little on the head gasket will cause seal issues, but has been done successfully.

Then there is the issue of these being crush seals. I haven't seen an issue of the seals having been unable to make a seal for the intake. It was always related to the coatings...

I wan't saying to reuse a HG. They are 125 each @ shosource. I just forget what the intake and other gaskets were and mls could probably be reused with a little tacky gasket spray. I assume the head bolts are under the valve covers (and vc gaskets)? You might be able to reuse but who knows when you get in there?

Mine were in great shape on my head gasket issue. I do check with a leak down every so often on both.
