I want to replace the front stabilizer bar links. The ones on their are plastic. They come in steel also. Is their any benefit to one over the other? And how do I know which way is up when I install them?

I actually just did this job, the new ford links they use for the SHO are labelled on each corner RH TOP or LH TOP so you know which one to use. Mine were the plastic ones which I replaced after 220km, I can't really see any benefit to having them in metal.

According to RCM plastic replaced the "rigid metal" ones in later years, such that they were an "upgrade".

Replacing them is pretty easy, once you figure out how to wrench it.

yeah to get them off i used an 8mm rachet and a 15mm wrench i beleive. you slide the wrench over the stud up to the bolt and i used the ratchet to actually loosin it. keep in mind you have to spin the rachet like you are tightening it because you are actually turning the bolt off the stud.

The plastic ones do flex under extreme conditions (track use and such). I prefer the steel links, IMO.

I have metal Windstar links. I love them and they also look nice. I've tracked my car hard and haven't had a problem.

IMHO.... Metal pwnz Plastic

I don't bother with wrenches on stabilizer bar links.

Angle grinder and 2 minutes...no busted knuckles, no spinning stud, no rounded nuts...ever.

If you have them apart enough, $16 + tax adds up very quickly. I reuse mine as they aren't that cheap.
