SPOUT = Spark Output of the ECU, aka DIS = Distributorless Ignition System aka EI (Low data rate) Electronic Ignition aka TFI = Thick Film Ignition aka DI = Distributorless Ignition aka EDIS = Electronic Distriburoless Ignition System aka EI (High data rate) = Electronic Ignition. All of the aforementioned are the terminollogy used for the EEC-IV (Elelectronic Engine Control 4) Distributorless Ignition System for different model years.
Pulling the DIS or SPOUT connection should never be necessary to pass an emissions test. Pulling the DIS connection puts the car in the safe mode or "Limp in Mode" and allows for a very narrow advance curve, that is timing is ********, and acceleration is non exsistent. I do agree that you do what you gotta do to pass that idiotic, environmentally meaningless, test.
V-tec,
What kind of O-2 sensors did you put in the car? Were they the right ones for the car? If you put in the old ones and it passed, there must have been something wrong with the new ones, or if they were working correctly you have a problem somewhere else.
Check for stored codes. If any are found, record them. Then clear the codes, drive the car for a while, and see if the codes come back. If the codes return, repair as necessary. rangerj
