Ok, little squeek..think its the springs, but I know I need tie rods. Squeeks sometimes when I shift and when ever I go over a bump.

How reliable is a stock set of struts/springs as a replacement on the Gen I? I don't wanna pay over 1000 for a set of tokicos and or eibachs.

What about stock struts or maybe even KYBs with some eibachs? If I want better handeling, I'll get SFBs with SFCs. Input..experience all that is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The tie rod ends are cheap to get and not a hard fix you may just need to grease them and while youre down there check if any nuts are lose.

As for KYBs they are garbage i wouldn't use them again on any application.

Since you want to go cheaper with the strut you might as well go cheaper with the springs, try the Moog spring with Monroe Sensatracks.

Good luck.

Coil springs do not squeak. The most likely candidate for a squeak in the front end is the tie rod ends. The tie rod ends usually exhibit their age by a high pitched squeak while moving the steering wheel. To confirm, with the wheel removed, use a Cresent wrench or your hand to rotate the tie rod. If the joint squeaks, **** it.

If it is the rod end, you can **** the sealed OEM tie rod ends. Puncture an hole in the rubber boot around the joint with a small nail and using a syringe filled with bearing grease, inject the **** into the boot until it is full and youcan move the joint with your hand. It may take some working with the wrench, but it should move easily.

Woo hoo!

Tie rods are squeeking and that means I dont really need a suspension replacement.

Scott and Tony thank!

Scott...I think I'm just gonna have the tie rod ends replaced.

Thanks!

That will require a realignment of at least the toe-in adding significantly to the expense of teh simple rod end installation. The re-**** can last for many years and allow subsequent maintenance in a similar manner. I replaced the rod ends on my car with the Moog grease-ables before learing how to maintain the OEM rod ends. You might want to give the grease syringe a try as it does not require an alignment and there is nothing to lose. If you find the rod ends too loose from wear (unlikley) then a replacement is mandatory.
