I've decided to start a new thread about squeeking strut mounts. My previous thread about slotting/ adjustable strut mounts got me to this point. So here's the story.... the thing (bad sho) had a negative camber so I decided to slot the towers, now to get the camber to a decent degree I have to place the struts far outboard...thus rubbing the strut bearing/rubber collar against the towers, squeeks when turning. So I read on this forum about the strut bearings/rubber collar rubbing against the towers. I figure there's a few ways to overcome this problem.... 1. some type of spacer between tower & strut mount... Ford part NO. F3DZ-18A027-A. Does anyone know the thickness of this part? 2. another way to possibly fix this situation is to fit Ford strut mount for 91 -95 sho/slo or police style & the most important part... strut bearing...F4DZ-3B455-A..... the 94-95 style. This setup is suppose to give an inch or so of clearance . 3. maybe a cam type adjustable strut mount .... anyone with experience with any of these setups chime in...the strut still would have to be pushed outboard...each manufacturer would be different. ........ The distance between top of strut tower and strut bearing/rubber collar is the question of the day. Any replys welcomed...Thanks.

1/8" is the thickness of the spacer plate. Its available in the boneyards on most taurus. The only REAL way to fix it is with coilovers.

No Coilovers!

Coilovers... no way ...no how.... 1. too much money.... 2. maybe too harsh of a ride.... 3. too much stress on other components (from what I've read on this forum) So now that the coilovers are ruled out... what other ways are there to silence the strut mounts .....what if I use the ingalls adjustable strut mount, would those have enough clearance/ small in the strut bearing/collar area to not rub the tub....how about some feedback from some users of this system. Thanks for now.

Great help...

Huuuummmmm..... well it's cheap to go the **** route, but grease is only a temporary fix. How about you SHOSource guys chime in about your strut mounts (I choose to name them because of their seemingly good rep.) Would there be any issues with rubbing of the towers with the adjustable mounts? My ride....92' slightly lowered Elibach springs. Thanks
